I am having similar problem.
After typing a domain name, it keeps on checking for a long time before coming up with 'Failed - Try Again Later'

Changing the component permission to 777 still doesn't work.

Any suggestion?

My test site: www.small2go.com
AjaxWhois V5.0 for Joomla 1.5
Joomla 1.5.10

Thanks!! It's Working now..!! Changed permission to 755 of "components" folder in Joomla directory...

Hi,

Port 43 is blocked by your host on your server. You can go for Ajax Whois version 0.6 as in this version whois server (that uses the port 43) can be bye passed.
